How ironic that the (automatic text summarization?) software used by Amazon to list products on their website sees the word "summarization" in the title and decides that this is an abridged edition. NOT! Look up the title in Worldcat. That said, this book is a super collection of the most important technical papers on the subject published through 1998, conveniently collected in one volume. An essential introduction to the history, terminology, and many approaches taken to further development of this critical field. Each article includes bibliographical references, and the editors have provided a very helpful comprehensive index.
