(More customer reviews)This is an excellent book. I have been trying to find some ways to motivate teaching Hindi to my kids aged 11 and 7. These books were an excellent match for their interests. They can related to the character of Aamoo. My children go around the house reciting phrases about Aamoo from this book. To any parent who wants to teach Hindi to their children in an interesting and fun way, this book provides an excellent tool to do the same.
I have used this book along with the Activity Book Hindi Activity Workbook and the basic Alphabet book Hindi Alphabet Book: Ka Kha Ga from the same publisher. The combination has worked well for me.
After my children graduate from Aamoo, I intend to try out the level 2 book Tara Sitara: Tara the Star (Hindi Edition)Tara Ke Kisse: Tara's Stories and the level 3 reader Hindi Children's Book Sonu's Stories: Level 3 Easy Reader. They seem to be the continuation of these theme of books.

This book is a level 1 Hindi reader. Level 1 books help in developing Hindi vocabulary andpronunciation skills for children who have some familiarity with Hindi script. This book contains nine stories. Each story consists of simple repetitivesentences with a simple but interesting story line. On each page of the book, the topmost line provides the sentence in Hindi. Immediately below it is the transliteration of the sentence in English. If the transliterated line is read in conversational English, the pronunciation would be similar to the one in Hindi. The line at the bottom of the page translates the sentence in English.The book consists of nine stories, each teaching new basics words of Hindi through repetetive sentences in an interesting anecdotal manner.

Song of the Simple Truth: The Complete Poems of Julia de Burgos (Dual Language Edition:: Spanish, English) (Spanish and English Edition) Review

(More customer reviews)Julia de Burgos is probably Latin America's greatest female poet. Although she never gained the mass media attention Gabriela Mistral gained after winning the Nobel Prize in Literature, de Burgos' work is eternally mesmerizing. Here is a woman who led an unhappy life searching for love, only to find heartbreak most of the times. A protege of Neruda's, de Burgos' political activisim in supporting various causes (including criticism of the Franco regime in Spain and Trujillo regime in the Dominican Republic, in addition to her passionate support for independence for Puerto Rico) is clearly shown in her work. Her romaticism and her cultural reconnection can also be read in some of her poems. The one that realy captivated me was Poem #37, "I Love You," which will cause the reader to grasp their chest with the emotion she has poured in letting the love of her life know how much he moved her world.
Ms. De Burgos died a tragic death in New York, however after it was discovered she had been buried on Hart Island (New York City's version of a potter's field) a movement to give her a proper and glorious funeral took place and although she left the island as an unknown schoolteacher, she returned a national hero. Her glorious return to Puerto Rico was well deserving. I can tell you that reading this book brought me to tears. The great thing is that the entire book is a bilingual edition, which will allow both English & Spanish-language readers to discover one of the greatest poets of the 20th century.
A must have for readers of poerty, Latin American literature, and Spanish students. I also recommend it for those who love Neruda. Best book of poetry I ever read!

(More customer reviews)I am so happy I chose this item for my children. Although my daughters are only 3 and 5, I wanted something to help them learn basic words and phrases. The lessons are simple with lots of reptition and cute songs. I put the CD on when they are playing and sometimes they participate but just as often not - but later, I'll hear them singing the number song.

(More customer reviews)First Spanish Reader: A Beginner's Dual Language Book, is an excellent beginner book for the Spanish neophyte or for the individual with some background in Spanish that needs a little refreshing. It contains 41 short stories/proverbs in somewhat graded difficulty of well-known Spanish writers past and present. Spanish verbal forms, that bugaboo for most students of Spanish, are arranged so that the first 15 selections are in the present-indicative, after which imperfect-indicative and preterite are introduced, followed by future and conditional verbs towards the end. No subjunctive verb forms are found in this small volume. Idiomatic Spanish is introduced as well, using common idioms understood in all parts of Spanish-speaking world.
The choice of selections reflects the Spanish culture well and is excellent, often highly amusing, and arranged so that short and long selections are interspersed.
In the rear of the book, oral and written exercises regarding each selection are especially helpful if this book is to be used in the pedagogical setting. Additionally, a thorough vocabulary, referenced for the selections presented, rounds out this book.
Editor Angel Flores has done a remarkable job with this book. I would highly recommend it for the beginning Spanish student or those who wish to brush up on their prior Spanish.
