As a missionary for 13 years now (since '94) serving overseas with the Russian people, I couldn't DISAGREE with w.shriver's comments more. Unlike the modern versions, the KJV (Authorized Version) retains a lot of old English that has Russian equivalents: e.g. thee, thou, ye, you, ALL have equivalents. I was working on the Kamchatka peninsula with a student that also was working with English and he was confused because as he put it, "there is SO much difference between the English and Russian texts." I learned that he had been trying to use a NIV and Synodal (Russian) together. I procured him a KJV and he returned a few days later with a smile. His words were, "It is like a hand in a glove!" If someone wishes to use an inferior modern translation in English (like the ASV) then they should pair it with a modern Russian version as well. Granted a dictionary is occasionally require with a few of the archaic words in the KJV (there are really not as many as some wish to say) but we are SUPPOSED to study!
Well done!
